Relationship with power in New York.
More about usFor almost two decades, NYAREA has been a strong and informed voice for the energy industry. We have spoken out in favor of numerous job-producing projects that impact on the need for expanded energy sources. Working with our friends at labor unions, we have spoken out against obstructionist laws in Washington, Albany and New York City.
NYAREA was at the forefront of the battle to keep the Indian Point power plant open in the face of powerful outside opposition to the plant being re-licensed. Workng closely with the unions and Entergy we kept the plant operating until a decision was made about its future use. We fought to save 1,000 jobs and accomplished that goal.
NYAREA spoke out at 24 public hearings, 16 press conferences and enlisted the support of numerous community organizations. We continue to speak out in support of clean energy projects and work closely with numerous power suppliers.
