Wind Power Statement Re: NYSERDA Study
New York, NY/September 16, 2016 – In conjunction with a major study that the New York State Energy and Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) released yesterday about offshore wind power, Jerry Kremer, Chairman of New York AREA, issued the following statement.
“The release of the New York State blueprint for offshore wind power is an important and positive development. NYSERDA is to be commended for the thoroughness with which it is continuing to study this issue.
“Offshore wind power, like all sources of on-land power, will face numerous obstacles to getting built and to providing power to the grid. The challenges will include vigorous, not-in-my-backyard community opposition. New York needs to keep and add to a diverse supply of clean, baseload power sources so that we have the reliable and affordable electricity that is so essential to our economy and our future.”
