Withdrawal of Galloo Island Wind Farm is wrong step for New York’s renewable goals

Following criticism from local opponents, the proposed Galloo Island Wind Farm project has been withdrawn by developer Apex Clean Energy.

The Galloo Island Wind Farm is the most recent upstate wind project to be abandoned, following the Cape Vincent Wind Farm, the Stone Church wind project and the North Ridge Wind Project.

The cancellation of this clean energy project is a serious setback for New York’s Clean Energy Project, which mandates that 50 percent of all statewide energy will be generated from renewable sources. New York needs ample renewable energy projects to guide the state into the clean energy future we envision, but we’ll be unable to reach these goals if such projects meet rejection from local opposition.
