New York’s energy efficiency goals

Posted: December 18, 2018

Following new targets set by Governor Cuomo in his 2018 State of the State address, the New York State Public Service Commission has approved two initiatives to increase the state’s energy storage.

These initiatives will play a significant role in establishing the goals of New York’s Clean Energy Standard, which would build out the state’s energy portfolio to generate 50 percent of instate energy from renewable sources by 2030.

However, we can’t neglect the vital need for baseload energy power to support the grid during weather conditions that effect the output of solar and wind energy. Natural gas and nuclear must continue to have a role in our energy portfolio to support a booming New York energy future.
