Our statewide grid is especially at risk during these peak seasons when New Yorkers crank up the heat to stay warm in the winter. The snow and ice can also cause damage to power lines, leaving New York at risk of blackouts.

Modernizing the grid can be done in a holistic approach through generation, storage and consumption to identify and fix smaller flaws in the grid before they lead to serious damage.
